About gas leak fix
We use electronic detectors and leak solution to check valves, unions, connectors and appliance fittings. Small leaks at threaded joints are the most common finding.
Once a leak is found, the fitting is repaired or replaced and the section is retested. Old flexible connectors are often replaced at the same time.
Gas piping carries fuel from your meter to every appliance in the home: furnace, water heater, fireplace, range, dryer, pool heater and outdoor barbecue. In Ontario this work must be done by properly certified gas technicians and must be pressure tested before an appliance is connected.
Adding a line for a new range, a patio heater or a pool heater starts with sizing. Each appliance uses a certain amount of gas, and the pipe must be large enough to deliver it at the correct pressure without starving other appliances. Undersized piping is a common reason new appliances perform poorly.
When an appliance is removed, the line feeding it should be shut off and capped properly rather than left open behind a wall or under a counter.

Repair or replace?
Short sections of damaged or corroded pipe can usually be replaced without redoing the entire system.
When older piping is undersized for a household that has added several appliances, rerouting or upsizing the main branch is often the cleaner solution.
Outdoor gas line work for barbecues and fire tables is easiest when the ground is not frozen, so spring and summer are the busiest seasons for that kind of project.
